Well, almost Door County. Nathan and Bri knew they had the right venue before they even set foot there. The Grain Loft is in Algoma, Wisconsin which is just outside of Door County, Wisconsin. It is right along the cost of Lake Michigan on the East side of the peninsula, so the temperatures were so perfect.
These two wanted their wedding weekend to be filled with fun for everyone. And a roadtrip to the Wisconsin Peninsula was the perfect way to start it out. They started their weekend with a fishing charter trip onto the lake with their officiant and friends and family. They not only got to watch the sun rise, but also had great luck with their catch. Nathan and Bri’s family made sure I got to have a great weekend also. When Brianna’s mom, Mary, reached out to me about shooting this wedding, I was so excited. Mary is another local photography (Check out Mary Hampton Photography!!), so beyond excitement, I was also incredibly honored that she would trust me to capture her little girl’s day. The Hamptons were so thoughtful through this entire process. Since Evan knows Dean and some of the other Hamptons, they encouraged and invited him to come along so the two of us could make a weekend out of it. Their wedding fell on the week of Evan and I’s ninth anniversary so it was the perfect time for a getaway to Door County. We enjoyed climbing lighthouses, visiting county parks, driving the coast, and of course, and a Door County Fish Fry.
Nathan and Brianna had such a laidback, fun wedding day. We started off the day spraying a bottle of champagne with the girls, which I hear was also quite delicious. Everything moved along at a perfect relaxed pace. When it came time for the first look, we found a small piece of shade in front of the venue. The bridesmaids found the perfect spot to watch from a distance on second story balcony which I thought was so great. They were so excited to be together and spend forever together.
I loved the soft blue of the girl’s dresses and how perfectly the sola wood bouquets came together (I hear Maddie gets credit for that!) Bri surprised everyone with a gorgeous sparkly and lace dress and sparkly shoes. Not everyone expected that from the girl who prefer to be fishing or in soccer cleats but it was so perfect.
I’ll be over here just smiling every time I think of their day for weeks. It was so fun, so beautiful, and so well planned. Nathan and Bri – thanks for including us in your special weekend! I was so incredibly honored to capture your wedding photos and can’t wait to see where life takes the two of you. I can already tell you’re going to make an incredible team in the game of life.
