What a beautiful wedding to end my 2023 Spring/Summer Wedding season. I’ve known Jedidiah and Emily since they were young and so seeing them fall in love, and getting to capture it on camera was so special.
These two have been so intentional throughout their romance. Prioritizing spending time together. Praying together. Choosing to honor the Lord through their relationship. Having meaningful discussions about the future. Working side by side. Learning about each other’s interests. During speeches, they talked about the many times Jedidiah would be out taking care of Emily’s animals for her when work got late. For Jedidiah and Emily, marriage isn’t just a social obligation, it’s a lifelong commitment before the Lord. To love and to cherish.
They really wanted their day to be focused on their love for Jesus, and for it to be a fun day for family and friends to gather together. Emily’s bouquet was so pretty, with sunflowers and roses, the perfect summer combo. The bridesmaids had soft green dresses with pretty lace details. The groomsmen wore jeans, vests, and boots. Gatherings on the Ridge was the perfect venue with it’s rustic charm and space for people to gather both inside and out.
I love being able to join in the wedding planning. We talked through different ideas. Created the perfect timeline for their day. I even got to be a part of designing their invitations! Capturing their engagement photos. And, filming their wedding ceremony so that Emily’s extended family in Belgium could watch it.
Their ceremony included songs played and sung by Jedidiah’s sister and brother. A foot washing ceremony symbolizing their willingness to serve each other. A unity candle. And a time of worship. After the reception and speeches (and of course sneaking out for some golden hour photos). The dancing began! Have you ever participated in square dancing? For real, it’s impossible not to have a good time! Kickapoo Joy Juice did such a great job, as always, calling out the instructions and keeping it lively. The line of dancers went almost the whole length of the barn!
So many more good things I could say about their day, their love. But, a picture says a thousand words, right? I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking.
