Ben and Nicole’s day was straight out of a fairytale. Everything was so relaxed and thoughtful.
Nicole’s getting ready photos were so special. She kept the room intimate with only her mom, soon to be mother in law, maid of honor, and now daughter. By choosing to be intentional in the people she is surrounded with, the moments were real and really special. Nicole’s bridesmaid has been her best friend literally since they were babies. They brought along a few photos they have as babies together that we were able to incorporate. Nicole and Schannel’s mom raised their babies together and I can only imagine how special it must be for them to see their baby girls all grown up. Still the best of friends.
I asked Nicole how she was feeling early on in the day. The nerves were definitely there. It was so sweet to watch her demeanor change during their first look. As she walked up behind Ben, ready to see her soon to be husband, I think everyone took a deep breath. We made it. Everything they’d been working on to bring this vision to life. It was now. It was here. Ben turned. Took her hands and had the biggest smile. So much love in his eyes. The river was softly flowing in the background. The sunshine streaming. They took in the moment. Shared their first wedding day kiss.
After a few photos of just Ben and Nicole, we brought Ben’s daughter in. It was so sweet to see Alice so involved in their day. She was in the getting ready room with Nicole getting all dolled up. She did a first look with her dad and he twirled her around to admire her dress. We made sure to keep her involved in multiple photos of the three of them. And right as I was leaving for the night, Ben and Alice shared a song on the dance floor.
Ben and Nicole, thank you for choosing me to capture your love. It was such an honor to be a part of your best day ever. I loved watching how the two of you went through the day together. Visiting with guests, together. Mingling in the reception, together. And I know it’s just a small picture of your life. But from what I’ve seen, a true picture. Keep getting into each other’s worlds and doing things as a team, together.
