Damian and Leigh at Celebrations on the River, La Crosse, Wisconsin

Back to Blog Home

Damian and Leigh planned such a sweet day at Celebrations on the River in La Crosse, Wisconsin. It was one of the most laid back days, especially the hours before the ceremony. The rain kept us inside for their first look and family photos. But, with a beautiful venue like Celebrations, and the right lighting equipment, the photos are still so beautiful. Natural light is always my favorite, but it’s not always possible. And in situations like this, I’m so glad to have learned how to use artificial light as well.

During their first look, Damian and Leigh read their vows privately to one another. What a beautiful way to promise forever.

With hearts set on an outdoor ceremony, we were all watching the weather forecast. It was coming down heavy when I got there, but started to lessen as the ceremony time drew near. The amazing day-of coordinator, Kayla, was supportive of wherever they wanted to have their ceremony. So she dried off the chairs the best you can when rain is still sprinkling down. And, we all moved outside. Guests pulled out their umbrellas. Some chose to stand. A few scattered sprinkles moved through during the ceremony, but not enough to be much of a bother. Damian and Leigh had the outdoor ceremony by the river that they’d been dreaming of. And the water droplets only added to the romance of the day. After the ceremony, we did some fun photos with the wedding party and clear umbrellas. And of course, some of the new Mr. and Mrs. Jilk!

If you’re a girl from Eau Claire, you’ve probably heard of Hello Adorn. The most fun place to get homemade jewelry and other locally made products. They had a team set up at Leigh’s wedding. During cocktail hour, guests could head over to the Goldie Endless Bracelet Bar, and get a beautiful piece of permanent jewelry. Leigh chose a bracelet with dainty hearts making the chain which I thought was such a sweet way to remember her wedding day!

These two may be young, but their commitment to each other is solid. Evan and I were young when we got married too. And, honestly, there’s nothing better than growing up together. When you’re 100%, all in, and you treat other with love and respect, forever isn’t long enough and now isn’t soon enough. When I think of Evan and I’s relationship, I love the song “Long Line of Love”. And, I think Damian and Leigh have a similar story <3
