Kevin and Teagen’s Vernon Vineyard Wedding

Back to Blog Home

Last year, I met Kevin and Teagen for engagement pictures at Duck Egg Park. While it was my first time at this Viroqua park, the two of them had shared many special memories there. I was in photographer’s heaven with all the pines and beautiful long grass and for them, the pictures had even more sentimental value. It’s what I call a win-win. But even more of a win, was getting to know the two of them. Even from that first meeting, it was clear to me that these two were made for each other.

From one October to the next, we shared conversations planning out the details and timeline of their day. I loved following along on social media as they reached each milestone – bachelor/bachelorette parties, bridal showers, countdowns. Until at last, October 2nd, 2021 arrived in all it’s fall beauty. Definitely a day worthy of a wedding celebration.

The sky blue shined blue above.. The grapevine leaves fluttered in the soft breeze. Kevin waited in the vineyard row. Teagen made her way out of the ‘bridal suite’. Ready to for this moment. Every detail thought through and perfected. She walked across the grass to her waiting groom. Ready for this moment. As she tapped Kevin’s shoulder, he turned and his whole face lit up with joy. The love, excitement, happiness, shining from both his eyes and hers was enough to last a lifetime. Finally, their moment was here.

The day was filled with laughter. Guests mingling and chatting. Loved ones that had traveled miles to surprise the bride. Grabbing a provided ‘high life’ beer or wat before sitting down to enjoy the ceremony. More love and laughter. Chocolate, wine, cheese, crackers, meats and beers. Reminiscing and creating new memories over a delicious meal prepared by Kickapoo Corner.

As the wedding dinner came to an end, everyone settled down to listen to the speeches. Some with a glass of Vernon Vineyards Wine, others with their favorite beer. Silence filled the air as Andy, the best man, held the mic. He talked of days gone by, got the whole crowd laughing with ‘Mark Humor’. Then he said these words, “Teagen has said, when she lies in bed at night she thinks – if today was my first date with Kevin, would he ask me on a second?” And those words have stuck with me. We all have our good days and bad, but too often we take out the bad days on those we love the most. How much better would it be, to end each day in unity. I think we all can learn from these two. Putting each other first. Giving your whole heart. Looking for the good in people and offering grace. Integrity. Grace. Strength. Confidence. Love. These were all words I heard repeated throughout the day as the people who know Kevin and Teagen the best spoke their thoughts aloud.

Kevin and Teagen – it was truly an honor to capture your day. I don’t know what the future will hold, but I know the two of you will stand by each other’s side through it all. Keep living life to the fullest!
